Re: Enable Outreach Non-Profit to Help Chapters

Hi Joe,

I just tried to follow the link you posted and it seems to be dead. I take it the non-profit no longer exists in this form?

Re: Bloom Socket: First Prototype, Design and Usage Feedback Requested

Andreas, has this prototype received testing since this post? Is there a newer version that you are working with?

The idea of a ratcheting mechanism similar to this https://vimeo.com/204128272 has been tossed around.

Re: Establishing safety guidelines and contraindications, topics to consider

I just saved this for future reference. But I'm curious if anyone has fleshed it out further? I'm especially interested in how proper body movement patterns can be validated.

Re: Design Goals and Processes

I think another valuable design goal should be ability to clean/sanitize. Wouldn't it be useful if the entire hand could be thrown into the dishwasher? A certified prosthetist met with us last week and explained that she believed sanitization and the interface between device and human (sock, foam) s...

Re: Replacing the Velcro on the Gauntlet: Two Printable Solutions

I just stumbled across this post. Awesome work.

Has anyone else tested this design? I plan to print this off and do some comparisons with the traditional velcro straps.

Re: Can hands be printed with a resin based SLA printer?

Perhaps someone with more knowledge can comment on this, but I see no reason why parts made from an SLA printer would be unsuitable for an assembled hand. If the print quality is high, and the parts fit together with minimal interference, the hand should function as designed.

Re: Ideal Filament - Filament Pros and Cons

A little late to the party, but I'd also like to hear some more input on this. In our Portland chapter we've been using PLA and ABS for the most part and have experimented with Polycarbonate. When thermoforming the gauntlet for the Phoenix hand, polycarbonate requires a small toaster oven to reach m...
