I like the idea of metal bits for these to slide on, just maybe not paperclips. Heavy gauge solid core wire (12 or so?) would give you a slightly bigger, smoother radius for the string. One of the post-docs in my lab is printing EAPs of some sort (unsure if they're dielectric or not) for some purpose that's unclear to me, and from what he's doing they don't seem all that suited to powering hands.
