Re: Thermoformed Raptor Reloaded Gauntlet: FEEDBACK/TESTING REQUESTED

This happened to a version 9 gauntlet. Mayhap caused by me because the whippletree would not fit correctly, it kept falling out from between the rails. I heated the rails up to make a tighter fit the noticed this after a day. Anyone else notice anything like this? I will print a new gauntlet but sti...

Re: The Phoenix Hand (previously Eagle Hand) fabrication and mechanical function testing

I'm so trying to make one for a Maker Faire demo at 170%. I'm going to theme it after the Cincinnati Bengals colors, complete with logo. I've printed all the orange on my Delta Orion but can't fit the palm or gauntlet on that machine at that size. I'll have to use the UM2, but ran out of black! :( T...

Re: Thermoformed Raptor Reloaded Gauntlet: FEEDBACK/TESTING REQUESTED

Hey guys, i finally got one of these printed out to test. Wasn't the easiest thing to heat and mold, but once done, it looks well worth it. Luke is excited for me to finish the hand so he can try it out. There is wiggle room with this gauntlet but I'll pad it out until snug. 20150717_180350.jpg 2015...

Re: Avoiding fatigue from flexion

Here is something I worked on a while ago. I would love to get this developed better. The first is a spring loaded design that keeps the hand open all the time but could cause fatigue while holding an object. The second video shows how we reversed the spring to keep the hand closed all the time, you...

Re: The Phoenix Hand (previously Eagle Hand) fabrication and mechanical function testing

Jason, are you ready for me to print this out for Luke? If it's sized like a RR, he'll need a 130%. Is there a thermomesh palm ready to print with this also?

Re: Cost/Benefit of thermoform palms

Luke loves using the thermomesh palm. No sock, just plastic. It irritates him in NO way, does not give like the velcro did and because of the forming of it to his palm, it is a comfortably tight fit that slips right on. He says that as far as feeling goes, it's the same as velcro: nothing. It's wear...

Re: Rubber Band Raptor Reloaded

I use the loom bands, we just double them up for each band. They've worked great so far.

Hey everyone! I have something I wanted to share to whomever may be interested. One thing I noticed Luke struggling with was holding poles, specifically a kayak paddle. So I came up with a design and had a friend of mine model it and now have this: http://imgur.com/a/TVMSa (Sorry for the link, I cou...

Re: Rubber Band Raptor Reloaded

It's usually the phalanges side we have more problems with. Probably due more to him flipping the fingers back and forth when bored.

Re: Raptor Tension Bars too Thin

I have made 3 Raptor Reloadeds and have never had an issue with my 8 year old breaking those. And he's been wearing his latest for 2 weeks straight. What shell thickness and infill are you printing at?

Re: Rubber Band Raptor Reloaded

You are correct about the middle and ring finger but it was the finger post that was hardest. Could just the finger posts be higher, maybe a 2-4 mm? It would allow the band to be started easier. The flatness of how they are now makes it difficult to even start one side. Especially for Luke. The inde...

When I scale it for Luke to 130%, it won't fit onto my buildplate. I'm using a UM2.

Andreas, is there a download link for the new thermoform gauntlet for testing? Luke really likes the ease and feel of the palm and wants to test out the gauntlet.

Re: Palm Mesh

Luke is my son. Also referred to as Little Cool Hand Luke. I printed the palm then heated it with a hairdryer and he stuck his sock covered hand in. I'm thinking we need feedback from alot more kids to see if it should be a permanent fixture. The plus side is it's removable now if they don't like it...

Re: Gripper Box 3.0: FEEDBACK/TESTING REQUESTED

It's a 130%er. If you watch any of the Maker Faire Bay Area footage or any of the pictures posted by anyone there, you will see him wearing the Raptor Reloaded Revision. Your fingers, Gauntlet with string bars, Gripper Box, Andreas' thermomesh palm. And easily said, by Luke himself, it's his most fa...

Re: Gripper Box 3.0: FEEDBACK/TESTING REQUESTED

Luke has been testing this out for a couple weeks now and I've not had any issues with it. But I haven't really noticed it make a difference either. Maybe I don't have it put together just right. I don't know. I followed the instructions. One thing I did notice is the index finger curls a lot more t...

I want to print this! It's just like the old double thumb Cyborg Beast I've had forever(I used 2 thumbs for even extra grip). Thank you for doing this. I've always missed the underthumb for the Raptor Reloaded. The link should take you to a picture of what we had. https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos?...

Re: Palm Mesh

Ok, i have some feedback for you. Luke has been using this palm for a couple weeks now, almost every day. We have caught softballs, picked up numerous objects, dropped the hand, shaken dozen of hands, ran it thru airport security, etc. And I literally mean worn it daily, for hours at a time. It's a ...

Re: Gripper Box 3.0: FEEDBACK/TESTING REQUESTED

I printed this out for Luke to try out along with the revised Raptor Reloaded(using the rubber bands). I followed the instructions but I have noticed that the index finger bends way too much and too fast, not allowing it to pinch with the thumb, which is adjusted accordingly. I'm pretty sure everyth...
