Code of Conduct

Postby andreas » Sun Feb 15, 2015 12:14 am

e-NABLE is a community fueled by mutual respect, support, and goodwill. Community culture is critical to preserving the quality and impact of our work, so please be respectful of others and their ideas, respect the spirit of sharing and openness the drives our community, offer solutions when providing feedback, and in general, be nice.

On a more serious and technical note, this forum and all of the content within it are completely open and public, unlike our private Google Plus Community. It is extremely important not to share any identifying personal details of the recipients or other parties you may be working with, especially if they are children. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Names
  • Email addresses
  • Home addresses
  • Pictures of the recipient
  • Telephone numbers

When in doubt, error on the side of caution and if you have any concerns about activities that could endanger the community or its activities, please do not hesitate to contact a forum moderator.

It is also very important to remember that it is recommended that no volunteers ever meet with recipients in their own homes or that of the recipients.
Always choose a public space to meet each other if you are close enough to one another for an in person fitting or delivery of a device.

Recommended spaces for meetings:
• Public Library
• School setting (teachers and students present)
• Restaurant
• Mall Food Court
• Coffee Shop
• Playground/Park

And it is NEVER recommended that you communicate directly with a minor via email, phone or in person about making a device for them - even if their parents "give you permission." Anyone under the age of 18 years old needs to have a parent do the communicating between the recipient and maker - for everyone's safety.

If a Maker ever asks a recipient for money in exchange for making them a device - please notify us immediately at info@enablingthefuture.org - as the enable community is a VOLUNTEER community and we do not SELL anything.
