Here's one of my favorite links, which compares a bunch of printers in a spreadsheet, listed by cost from low to high:

We have a Printer Review database here.

Great site. I think I checked it every Sunday night to see if something with dual extruders dropped to my budget.

Hello,
Does anybody know something about the Solidoodle 3D printer? Is it a good printer?

I have a wanhao - its been great so far - http://www.wanhao3dprinter.com
better quality than a flash forge.

Re: I want to buy a 3D printer
There are many great prints out there, but I can only talk about the ones I have used personally:
I own a Replicator and a FlashForge Pro, and both have been great. MakerBot stopped making the Replicator (the original model) long ago, and the FlashForge is a modern "clone" with some nice enhancements. One caveat - the original Replicator prints flexible filament, the FlashForge doesn't (yet). But for PLA and ABS, the FlashForge is great. I particularly like the Sailfish firmware - it gives you great control over everything, and very good quality, compared to the "stock" firmware.
I've also used an Ultimaker 2 (bought for the office) and it is wonderful - the printer looks great and is very quiet, and the output is extremely high quality. I have an Ultimaker Original+ coming, which will be fun to build, and has a great reputation as well - I'll post more when it's arrived and I can speak from experience.
I also own a QU-BD TwoUp, which I wouldn't recommend - it's cheap, and "works" but they made a lot of trade-offs to get the price so low, and the company is very hard to deal with. Printrbot owners all seem a lot happier than I was with QU-BD.

Re: I want to buy a 3D printer
The link for Joe Cross 3D printer recommendation is not working. My school is in the process of purchasing a 3D printer and I would like to find one that works well with the eNABLE prosthetic hand project.
Re: I want to buy a 3D printer
Ive seen a couple of references to people using Wanhao Duplicator 4x (http://wanhaousa.com/products/duplicator-4x). I was originally looking at the Makerbot Replicator 2. I saw the full list of printers but not sure how best to compare and want to get a quality one for the cause. Any suggestions helpful! Thanks

Re: I want to buy a 3D printer
On 3D printers,am from Kenya and i am looking for someone to Donate a working 3D printer.I want to help print limbs for children from this side of the world.
Re: I want to buy a 3D printer
I have not used a 3D printer before. so I am looking at ease of use as well.
What are your views on
1. ROBO R1 plus
2. Solidoodle 4
Do these printers meet the requirements for printing hands? (resolution, accuracy, size, etc)
Any other suggestions for printers?
Thanks in advance,
Dulip

Re: I want to buy a 3D printer
I'm looking at an Ultimaker 2 to make my son a Robohand.
Based on what I'm seeing here, this is perhaps one of the better choices.
This will also serve to "bump" an important topic to the front, hopefully to encourage input from formerly frustrated users who can offer shortcuts and updated buying advice.
I'm amazed by the versatility, economy, and ubiquity of 3D printers and prosthetic hand designs available! Only 3 years ago, we were looking at a bleak, expensive, time-consuming trudge to the mainstream for our now 5-year-old son...
Thanx to one and all who contribute to this forum, I'm "almost an expert" already, and I don't even have a printer yet!!!

Re: I want to buy a 3D printer
I was able to buy the almost-new Ultimaker 2 on a re-list at $1,500 (didn't meet reserve the first time).
Printer will be arriving Friday or Saturday, and we'll be getting started.

Re: I want to buy a 3D printer
I would recommend Flashforge 3D Printers as I saw they have quite good comments in US Amazon especially the Creator Pro. As for the Flashforge Finder, it is good for the beginner and price is quite reasonable.
Prusa i3 MK2
After researching which 3D Printers to purchase, thinking of getting this PRUSA I3 MK2 http://prusaprinters.org/original-prusa-i3-mk2-release/
Any feedbacks/ comments? Thanks in advance!
BTW, I'm newbie in 3D Printing with IT background

Re: I want to buy a 3D printer
The ultimaker is a great printer, but definitely overkill for printing a hand from enable. I have a creality cr10 S4 that I paid $550 for (400x400x400 build volume) and it does wonders printing anything I throw at it.
