Need correct settings for Dremel3D40 printer for Raptor hand

Postby jvanvliet » Wed Aug 03, 2016 4:45 pm

Hi,
We would very much appreciate your help.
Our middle and high school robotics teams are trying to print the test hand to submit to E-Nable. We are new to 3D printing. We have started printing parts for the test/sample Raptor build We want to make sure we have the settings right so the sample we send you is sound.

Could you please let us know what settings to use for printing hands for E-Nable? We have a Dremel 3D40.
(We did see and use the setting provided with the Raptor build (Infill 35%, Shells 2, Outlines 2 Temp 230C, Speed 60mm/sec extrusion and 90mm/sec traveling, layer height .2mm)
Our thumb pin and long and medium finger tips look OK, but when we tried the PalmLeft, it seemed to be doing fine, then started shredding in one section in the middle. The same thing happened with RaptorBracerB2. So we think we may have some of the other setting wrong.
The attached pdf has screenshots of all the options we are given. And we attached a photo of the "good" and failed parts.

Also should we include rafts and supports in our builds for the hand parts?

Many, many thanks for any help/guidance you have time to give us,
Jo Ray Van Vliet and Daren King for robotics teams FTC 7673 and FLL5174, Towns County Schools, Hiawassee, GA

Changing the printing the Autodesk PrintStudio Profile for Dremel 3D40 to Best from default Standard in the PrintStudio solved our print problem. LeftPlam printed beautifully, took 11 hours.
We wants to thank Jim, Joy, Eric for their advice. Really helped. FTC 7673 :P

Hello,
I am a senior at my high school and we are looking at 3D printers. How is the 3D40? I was told that the build platform is not big enough for adult hands. Has this been true for your experience?
Thanks,
Will
