Requesting Approval by Team Robocracy 4-H Club

Postby reginake » Mon Oct 30, 2017 2:21 am

Name: Team Robocrace 4-H Club
Location: Chappaqua, Westchester County, NY
Device: Team Unlimbited Phoenix Hand with 3-Pin Tensioner and Thermo-formed Gauntlet
Video Link: https://youtu.be/gEufKenB5dY

As a competitive high school robotics team, we CAD and 3-D print many of our robot's pieces. We would like to utilize our 3-D printers' down time to print prosthetics for Enabling the Future. Ultimately, we would like to create a chapter for our team and invite other teams in our area to join the chapter. Our robotics community, adept at 3-D printing, can be a resource for Enabling the Future.

Quality looks quite nice! It may be the lighting, but the top layers or the PLA you used (is it transparent?) but it looks like the support is visible through the top. This is either due to transparent PLA (in which case no problem) or setting too few top layers (which could be a problem regarding strength of the device). Just something to keep in mind. You could also tension it at a slightly higher angle to give a slightly stronger grip.
Otherwise it looks fantastic!

Thanks for joining up with the group and let us know if you have any questions!

Thank you, Ebubar!
Yes, the PLA is transparent. However, we can print with more layers to be sure our devices are strong.
Thank you for the tip to tension at a higher angle for more grip strength.
This is our first badge. Looking forward to making many more!
