Requesting Approval by SJordan

Postby sjordan » Wed Nov 08, 2017 7:45 pm

My name is Stephen Jordan. I am a robotics/engineering intructor at Hattiesburg High School in Hattiesburg, MS. My students and myself are trying to be approved for building. Below you will find a video link to a 150% scale Phoenix hand that we built as a demonstration hand in class. It is built out of ABS400 (a High Temp ABS). It was built using a Uprint.

Stephen,

Your hand looks great. Tension also looks spot on.

Did you have any issues printing the hand? How did the high temp ABS do for thermo-molding?

Thanks for joining up with the group and let me know if you have any questions!

Consider this message your approval for the TEST HAND and the PHOENIX HAND V2 fabrication and assembly badges!

The machine that I have that prints in the High temp ABS works very well. No issue printing. However, the Uprint is pricey. The only downside is that it also prints soulable support. After the print, you have to soak the part in a sodium hydoxide solution to remove the support. This takes days to do sometime. As far as thermoforming, I use a combination of techniques. I have access to a thermomold, I use a thermopress, and high temp heat gun to acheive the bends I need. Thank you for the approval. If there is anything I can do or questions I might can answer, let me know.
