Some relevant extensions

Postby laird » Thu Feb 19, 2015 4:55 pm

After using the forums a few days, there are some PHPBB extensions that we might want to consider at some point. I'm posting them here for future reference.

For what it's worth, I've never been a fan of sites forcing external links to open in new windows. It goes against standard behavior and in many cases the back button is easier than having to mess around with windows and tabs. Users already have an easy way of choosing to open links in new windows/tabs if they want to (right click, middle click, or long press on touch devices). Forcing a new window/tab to open can be seen as blocking the user's choice since there's no easy way to override it.

Also, depending on browser settings, it might cause the links to open a new tab in the background so it could seem broken to some people.
