Designing a hand with 27 degrees of freedom. Like ours.

Postby vaughnx » Fri Jun 10, 2016 10:16 pm

Hello,

I'm working on CADing a new hand design. Current prosthetic designs lack the full articulation of the human hand. I've uploaded a drawing of the latest design I want to create. This design has cushioned fingertips to add for softness, fingernails for grip, a concave palm, and a ball in socket design that gives 27 degrees of freedom to this design. As I've said, I'm working on CADing this new design. Progress is slow however. Let me know if anyone has any tips on the design or if anyone wants to help. Thanks.

-Justin

Hey there Justin. Any progress on this design?
Co-lead at e-NABLE Portland, mechanical engineer, and no idea what I'm doing

I'd like to know more about this as well. It seems like a very ambitious design and I hope you can pull it off, Justin.
